What’s wrong with it?
Bad coaching (pressure to win, injury rate, subpar training, zero development, etc)
This.
My DD has no interest in HS, but wanted to play in MS with her friends. She regretted it so much. The coach asked me if she’d keep playing the following seasons. Haha. A resounding no!

Anonymous wrote:Does anyone know whatever happened to Falls Church HS boys coach Kevin Diamond? He led the team to the playoffs and was quietly removed as head coach. I thought he was a very young full of energy and passion. and suddenly was gone without a trace.

Seeing that a majority of the HS coaches are Travel coaches....
Hmmmm.....
The basic structure of HS soccer, regardless of the coach, simply makes development and playing anything but the simplest style of soccer impossible.

Take Arlington, for example. Yorktown and Washington-Lee high school (think they renamed it) are right in the middle of Arlington county, so probably 100% of their players have all played competitively soccer for Arlington Soccer Association under the same group of coaches. If you are a red/white player you can make your high school team.
So when they get to high school, the HS coaches know exactly where everyone is and what they have been taught up to that point.
Most high schools aren't so lucky and are situated in areas that have a very organized club soccer scene, or cris-cross different club boundaries, or the players in the high school play for a smattering of different clubs so they developed under different trajectories.
Annandale, falls church, and some of the other high schools in the area have kids who play for 4-5 different clubs. You are at a major disadvantage from the start before tryouts even start.
HS is really just about taking the best players who try out and getting the most out of them in those 3 months to win as many games as possible. It is NOT about longer term development beyond the current season.

My DD is a senior and her school has a serious shot at state championship. She’s already committed but I know it’d make her super happy to go start her collegiate career with a ring on it.
I know some players who have already committed are taking advantage of the online classes and finishing up HS a semester early to start training with their college team in the spring since NCAA plays in the fall. What club is she at?

Can you reorganize your thoughts? Not sure if you meant that the structure of HS soccer means simple soccer can or cannot be played. Halp!
