Then you get to pay it "for life"[/quote] You don’t always have to pay it for life. I received a meager amount for two years, and you can negotiate anything outside of the court. I know a couple of people (VA, MD) who didn’t have a judge decide for them, one of them was a nasty divorce and they were still able to settle out of court.[/quote]
