Sadly they are my friends. Most at Catholic and send their kids to Catholic schools. Some are evangelical. All are white, upper middle class. Some are military, but 1/2 my military friends hate Trump.
There is a lot of misunderstanding about Catholics and politics. Data from Gallup and the National Election Studies show that Catholics were more likely to vote for Hillary in 2016 and Obama both times. The percentage is probably smaller for churchgoing Catholics though. Sadly abortion has become a single issue of focus for some Catholics that has been hijacked by Republicans who take an anti-Catholic view on every other human issue, from racism to poverty. It makes no logical sense for a Catholic to vote for Trump who promotes a culture of immorality.
Obviously, Catholics are not getting that message.
