I’m not able to watch, so if anyone has an update, it would be appreciated.
Summary: Wear the damn mask. Not doing anything else. Kids don’t matter.
Kids matter which is why we have DL, masks help but they don't fully stop the virus. If we go on a full quarantine again people will have a bigger fit. What sacrifices are you willing to make to get schools open safely?
I lot. I'm willing to make a lot of sacrifices to get schools open. They should be open while bars and gyms are closed. You can't have it all, so we need to decide what's most important. Evidently we've decided that going out to dinner is more important than kids getting a good education and living a semi-normal life.
But here’s the rub. States (including MD) need the sales tax revenues that restaurants and bars generate. And if nothing is open, there won’t be travel to MD so no hospitality taxes. That’s 50% of the sales tax revenue for many states. I’d give up all of that too for my kids to be in school, but I also get the need for businesses to make money and for the state to have revenue. State budgets pay for things we all need and take for granted. It’s just not simple anyway it’s diced.
