Beth said a couple of times that the doctors believed her mother died of hepatitis--which can be caused by alcoholism (there are 3 types). Townes is gay. He was sharing his room with that guy in Las Vegas. Later when they're reunited in Moscow he said something like "I should have told you" to Beth.

I assumed the guy Alice was talking to was Beth's biological dad, but I'm not sure. They were talking about what to do with Beth. Alice was unraveling and trying to get her daughter to a safe place. When that didn't work she ended up committing suicide by car crash, with Beth in the car.

I just want to say I truly enjoyed this limited series. My husband and i couldn;t wait to watch it every night after our daughter went to bed![/quote]
