It’s very easy. If you don’t want to wear a mask, then don’t play.

Good question. Here is the best I can tell. MoCo appears to have subtly changed the guidance; there are constant communications between Soccerplex and county officials, so they've presumably been given the green light to do it that way. I can't find anything official other than this subtle change, but this sentence was not there before. Here is the change:

All sports participants, regardless of age, must comply with the face covering requirement and  social distancing and hygiene requirements. [b]The County follows the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations regarding the use of face coverings during vigorous activities.

That sentence is new. So then you go to the AAP recommendations:

Face coverings are advised:

For coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators.
For all people arriving at and departing from an athletic facility or on the sidelines.
