What is it with men and eating crap? Most of the men in my family (and DH’s family) have all had major health issues due to bad diet. Diabetes, heart disease, cancer, you name it. But they still insist on eating junk. And then their wives are stuck taking care of a sick man for years. My DH can eat what he wants, but I won’t buy it, won’t cook it, and I let him know I’m not spending the last 20 years of my life taking care of him because he couldn’t control his eating. If he wants to ruin his life, fine, but I’m not letting it ruin mine.
Women have an inordinate amount of pressure on ourselves to look good, to stay in shape and fit. On the other hand, men have this delusional idea that their appearance doesnt matter whatsoever, that they can be rocking an 8month pregnancy belly in a stained shirt and women will still think they're attractive. Not that appearance is all that matters, but I think that that pressure to look good forces women to make healthier eating choices, whereas men go off the rails (and often get petulant when "forced" to eat healthy like OP) When I lived in los Angeles, where there is a big emphasis on appearance for BOTH men and women, you didn't see the men grabbing a bunch of tubs of ice cream at Ralphs or laughing about how they'll get the giant burger with fries while the wife meekly orders a salad. They'd both end up eating salads, because men realized their appearance matters. Of course you can be too appearance obsessed, but it does often have a nice side effect of making you make better, healthier eating choices. Lots of problems with men in Los Angeles, but that was nice to observe. And I enjoyed the eye candy!
