Most of the men in my family (and DH’s family) have all had major health issues due to bad diet. Diabetes, heart disease, cancer, you name it. But they still insist on eating junk. And then their wives are stuck taking care of a sick man for years.
My DH can eat what he wants, but I won’t buy it, won’t cook it, and I let him know I’m not spending the last 20 years of my life taking care of him because he couldn’t control his eating. If he wants to ruin his life, fine, but I’m not letting it ruin mine.
Women have an inordinate amount of pressure on ourselves to look good, to stay in shape and fit. On the other hand, men have this delusional idea that their appearance doesnt matter whatsoever, that they can be rocking an 8month pregnancy belly in a stained shirt and women will still think they're attractive.
Not that appearance is all that matters, but I think that that pressure to look good forces women to make healthier eating choices, whereas men go off the rails (and often get petulant when "forced" to eat healthy like OP)
When I lived in los Angeles, where there is a big emphasis on appearance for BOTH men and women, you didn't see the men grabbing a bunch of tubs of ice cream at Ralphs or laughing about how they'll get the giant burger with fries while the wife meekly orders a salad. They'd both end up eating salads, because men realized their appearance matters. Of course you can be too appearance obsessed, but it does often have a nice side effect of making you make better, healthier eating choices.
Lots of problems with men in Los Angeles, but that was nice to observe. And I enjoyed the eye candy!

What “ clean” household stuff did she buy? Many of the natural brands are not really natural or any better than the conventional stuff.
What food items is she not letting you eat?
She bought All Clad stainless steel pots and pans. They were expensive ( $700) but they are supposed to be the best and last a lifetime. She bought a bunch of Pyrex glass containers and switched to some silicone bags food instead of plastic bags.
We used stuff called “ Attitude” that is supposed to be very clean and has less harsh chemicals. We still use the regular stuff but only 1-2 times a week.
She has stopped picking up anything with bad oils or high fructose corn syrup. No more frozen pizzas or anything that is processed. We only eat that stuff now 1-2 times a week when we get takeout.

As for food its healthier for you but yeah sometimes you just want a little bit of junk. Why don't you have some snacks available to munch on.
Gluten is silly. Unless you are coeliac you don't need to restrict gluten, there is no health benefit.
Perhaps she finds it hard to eat healthy with that stuff around. Could you compromise and put it away in a cupboard she doesn't use.
This is your opinion. And many health experts disagree.
Good for OP's wife for taking initiative to improve her and her family's health.
Health experts is another way of saying people without medical degrees or scientific knowledge. No thanks.
Better than some random crazy who probably weights 300 pounds posting anonymously on DCUM. I'll pass on your "wisdom", thanks.
Ha ha. My sisters kids are diagnosed coeliacs/ celiacs. There is a blood test you can take to find out if you have a sensitivity.
If you aren't sensitive its better to not eat gluten free bread. If you knew all the foods that gluten is in its laughable to think eating gluten free bread is gluten free.
Besides the fibre is good for in whole wheat bread. But you do you.
I know all the foods that gluten is in. Fiber is in plenty of foods, namely fruits and vegetables, not just bread.
I will continue to trust the experts I follow. You sound totally clueless about nutrition anyway so please keep the condescension to yourself.
Fibre is essential in protecting you from bowel cancer so whole wheat bread is better. If you are not sensitive there is plenty of articles to state there are no health benefits.
Yes there is fibre in fruits and vegies but most Americans still don't eat enough fibre. And condescension - I think you called me 300 pounds, pot meet kettle.
