Huh? What is crazy about this? Not PP but our pediatrician advised the same schedule when our newborn wasn't gaining fast enough. We eased out of it when she was gaining weight at an appropriate pace a few weeks later. [/quote]

OP here. This is very helpful. I will follow something like this. We were feeding every 2-3 hours sometimes and other times every 4 hours if he didn’t want to wake to eat. I will try more of a schedule like this.

He did regain his birth weight back but he is small. His pediatrician said he was hoping he would have gain more then just his birth weight. [/quote]

Think of the times as the maximum you want to go before offering the chance to feed. Feeding more frequently is ok if the baby acts hungry. Some might want to eat at 4, 5, and 6pm. Or, if they didn’t eat much at 10am, offer at 11 instead of waiting a full 2hrs.

Aim for 10+ good feeds per day. Including a few bottles of formula or breast milk will let you know for sure how much those feeds were, but don’t obsess too much about not knowing for sure when direct breastfeeding.

Your baby regained birthweight by 2wks so you are not in a danger zone. If you were ped would ask for a weight check appointment. You’ll be back at ped in a few weeks soon for another well check.[/quote]
