Feed on a schedule. Every 2 hrs from 6am to 6pm and every 3 from 6pm to 6am. Partner gives the formula at 2 night feeds so you can sleep more.
OK crazy baby wise lady.
Huh? What is crazy about this? Not PP but our pediatrician advised the same schedule when our newborn wasn't gaining fast enough. We eased out of it when she was gaining weight at an appropriate pace a few weeks later.
OP here. This is very helpful. I will follow something like this. We were feeding every 2-3 hours sometimes and other times every 4 hours if he didn’t want to wake to eat. I will try more of a schedule like this. He did regain his birth weight back but he is small. His pediatrician said he was hoping he would have gain more then just his birth weight.
Some newborns need to be woken up to eat - you can try nursing more often, and then give him an oz of formula after you nurse a few times a day (or every feed), and then you also work to increase your supply while following directions to feed more frequently and supplement.
