OP here, the SAT scores should improve-- 1,100 is the 10th grade PSAT projected with no prep course taken. So a prep course will be taken this year and who knows, maybe 1300. Just interested in what the options are for DC now with worst case on grades and SAT scores. Mathmatically it is very hard to bring the grades up that much when you have a 3.2--3.3 for the first two years. Thanks to those who have posted helpful suggestions.
OP, it's good to get a general sense of expectations, but, from my recent experience: hopefully you will see 100 to 200 point increase on the SAT after prep. As for the grades, don't discount the benefit of an upward trend in grades and good grades in future AP classes. The weight of the AP classes can really help some. (Except my DC maintained almost the exact GPA for 8 semesters and only went up on SATs 80 points -- but did a little better on the ACTs). Finding the right fit college is hard work but pays off in the end. Good luck. As pp, High Point's also been suggested for our 10th grader. Also, St Joe's.
