Not the OP, but I'm in a similar situation, and I literally just talked to my Dr. about MTHFR today. She told me that MTHFR is very common- about 20% of people have it, and the response is to take folate, rather than folic acid. She told me that she's willing to do it, but the test is probably just not worth it, and the science isn't there. However, just taking folate/ putting spinach in a smoothie every day seems like a perfectly fine thing.

It's better to have the test done, than have 7 MC and decide at that point, ok maybe I should have the test. Unfortunately, a lot of women aren't tested for it until near that point. I hope it works out for you. Did your doctor also mention taking baby aspirin? [/quote]

I personally (the PP who talked to my Dr about MTHFR) can't take baby aspirin- I'm allergic, so the equation is more complicated for me. I think it I could take baby aspirin I would because there just seems to be limited downside.[/quote]
