Seriously, have people had experience with this scenario before? All of you talk as you have first hand knowledge and experience. I’m impressed. This is the first time my family is experiencing DL in a worldwide pandemic.
People are going with their experience of block vs regular periods. Most high schools in MCPS are on a 7 period schedule, which is unfortunate. Some schools and I believe most magnets have blocks. I very much prefer block scheduling!
My child is on a block schedule at his MS. It works well for my kid regarding assignment management and his teachers are able to cover a lot in one period or do in-depth science and math projects. I haven't noticed any issues with only having teaching contact 2-3 days per week. These kids are advanced but even in the regular classes, kids seem to adjust to the schedule.
Do you think this projects will be done during Zoom?
Don't know but my child's Algebra teacher used Zoom effectively in the spring and kept the kids engaged by teaching new content. Bottom line, it depends on the teacher. I hope my son's school keeps the block schedule but I am not against other schools going back to their normal schedule for DL.
