Will clubs be allowed to use school fields if schools are closed? BRYC practices at Woodson and I just heard from my sons school that summer school is distance learning. Schools are going to stay closed at least through July
It is highly unlikely that they would allow it. Can you imagine potential liability issues if there is an COVID outbreak after a practice?
“Don’t know much about biology...” or waivers or contracts or causation . . .
But maybe a little about optics, news reports, community outrage
Not really sure what you mean by this. The post above is asking about clubs using school fields while the schools are still closed. Soccer practices take place at night anyway, and there is usually no access to the school buildings themselves. So if you are talking about the possibility of a soccer practice resulting in a COVID outbreak at the school, I don't get it. Or are you just talking more generally - that kids gathering for soccer practices might trade germs and therefore spread the virus into their communities? If so, what is the difference between practices at school fields vs other county owned fields? It seems to me that it's either deemed safe to return to play (in some fashion or another), or it's not. But there's no meaningful distinction to be made between practicing at school fields vs anywhere else.
Athletic fields are closed too, genius. If your club decides to hold practices on the fields that are closed and it results in an outbreak, the club and the coaches will be in trouble.
