I can only comment on my daughters club. A large non profit club not far from Arlington. My perspective is their personnel and costs seem very much in line with what I would expect. Their office space is in a community center building. Nothing fancy at all but functional and within reason. Their support staff that is not soccer related seems to be one person. She answer phones and does a host of admin type work necessary to run a business of this size. Besides that I dont see much more that is not necessary or might be considered a luxury to have. I'm sure some clubs have beefed up their resources but my experience is in line with what Id expect at a non profit community based soccer program.
Not so much the person answering the phones, but the multiple titles dropped on people as an excuse to pay them more. Not sure there is a whole lot of value added by creating new director positions for every aspect of these programs. Most of these clubs should be able to operate with a half-dozen employees.
