Yes, you are making a mistake, but good for you for asking. The more trustworthy experts, like Sanjay Gupta, say NO PLAYDATEs for many reasons:

1.) Asymptomatic carriers
2.) You are not just interacting with this child, but everyone she, her parents, their friends and coworkers, etc interacted with this past few weeks.
3.) The virus is airborne for some of the time. It's not just about coughs and sneezes. It's about the shared air you breathe with a carrier. This means washing your hands will not protect you.

It is beyond ignorant to label people crazy if you actually read about how these viruses work and how you stop the spread. Learn from what happened in Italy. It also irresponsible that any experts are still saying playdates are fine.[/quote]
