Parents absolutely should be allowed to be with their child at a visit. I would pass on any school that does not recognize this.
Meh, they are looking for kids who are ready to separate from their parents and attend preschool. Not all kids are ready for preschool.
One visit is not representative of how a child will separate from their caregiver. I work at a private school, and our youngest children interviewing are very young. The playdates/visits/interviews take place in December, January and February. These children won't start school until September, so that's anywhere between 7-10 months before the child will enroll, a lot of growth happens in that amount of time! A good school knows this and will plan a visit according to where the children are at the time of visit. Good luck to your brother, I hope they find a school that's a good fit.
