I think 20 months is really young to be considering his adult height. DS "big" at birth- almost 9 pounds and 22 inches "small" from age 1-10 - 60th-70th percentile in height- but always on the "shorter side" when compared to local peers - shortest in class at K-1, one of the shortest in grades 2-4 Now DS is in 6th grade and in the 90th percentile for height and is on the tall side of the middle in his class... and is growing like a weed! Guessing he will end up near the middle... If your DS is healthy growing and staying on the curve I wouldn't worry about it, all kids grow at different rates. You have many years ahead of you, I would try not to stress about his adult height before he's even 2 years old.
My ped said growth under 2 is actually a pretty reliable predictor of adult height.
It is not as simple. OP, my brother was below average all his childhood and he grew up to 6 ft 3 inches in high school. My husband was super tall until middle school (90% height), started puberty early, and he stayed at 5 ft 11 inches. His sister is 6 ft tall and she kept growing, despite getting her period at 11 years old. How is his eating and sleeping?
