Stop telling your children that the Jews killed jesus.
The Sanhedrin voted to convict Jesus. Pontius Pilate gave choice to the people and they chose to release Barabas. So, technically, Jews and Roman Infidels killed Him. However, His death was preordained and all of these people, including Judas Iscariot, were necessary to carry out the purpose of the life of Jesus. I am Protestant and was never taught that the Jews killed Jesus.
This greatly overstates the influence of the Sanhedrin and Jews in general at time. The Romans were in control of Jesus' fate, not the Sanhedrin. Said Romans also destroyed the Temple, which the Sanhedrin and Jews never would have wanted. Point being that even if the Sanhedrin did vote that way (which is not really clear cut), it seems irrelevant. Saying "the Romans and the Sanhedrin" is something like saying "the American military and the Monaco military."
