My 9th grade daughter took the Naglieri in school this year, we just received her scores and she received a 160 which is the highest score one can get. This is NOT meant to be a humble brag or boastful post, but I have to say I am floored. I've always known she is very smart, but I don't see her as being a genius. Yet, a 160 does seem rather extraordinary to me. What exactly does it say about a person who receives a score like this? I'm wondering if I should be doing something to develop her abilities in STEM topics. Her extracurriculars are all arts related, she has never done anything like programming, robotics, etc. I guess I'm wondering where do we go from here? Or is there any reason to go anywhere at all?
It means she's a very, very smart kid. Like others have said, get a proper IQ test to baseline her level of intelligence. Foster her interests and make sure she's challenged.push her limits. Don't focus on Stem vs other. If she's not interested in STEM, it would be time and energy wasted. However, it would be good to expose her to STEM topics (Robotics or coding clubs) to see if she has any interest..
