Because I am a Police dispatcher and I take many calls a day. We don't do reports for accidents on private property and we don't do hit and run reports unless there suspect info like a plate or someone left a note for you.
You pay insurance to handle these things.[/quote]

OP said they got the person’s plate. Does that make a difference?  I had the same happen to me once and I took the info to the police. They tracked down the driver almost two years later and she was made to pay. But that happened on a public street. [/quote]
