My question: is it possible for an area of Fairfax County to go through the process of withdrawing from Fairfax County if reasonable representation and interests are no longer possible at the county level?
Secession from a County for any reason has to be done with approval of the General Assembly in Richmond. Secession without the consent of the jurisdiction being seceded from (in this case FFX County) would not be looked open kindly in the General Assembly, because it would set a precedent that counties all around the state would fear. The main concern would be affluent sections of counties withdrawing from economically mixed counties essentially to avoid providing tax revenues to serve poorer areas (something that HAS happened in other parts of the country, but not in Virginia) So you can accept FFX as it is. You can move. You can actually try to persuade people in Fairfax, including people unlike you in social class and race, of your positions. Or I suppose you can kvetch on DCUM.
