Oh no! I am so sorry. Agree with the posters that say be there as much as you can. It is a hard place to be though and I get that. Can you touch and hold your baby’s hand? Read him books? I hope they figure out what is going on soon so they can treat it and you can go home.
OP. He's having apnea and he's a term baby. This is something apparently almost always experienced by babies born before 35 weeks according to the NICU. I'm in a better place today. I was able to holding his hand, pacifier and sing to him yesterday. He's very alert. He definitely knows me and responds well to my voice :)
That’s wonderful!! Make sure you express a little breast milk onto a breast pad, and put it in his crib. The NICU nurses told me that helps the baby smell your scent amidst everything else. Stay encouraged, you’re doing a great job.
OP here. Breastfeeding/ pumping is something I'm struggling with right now. I'm taking anixety meds and I would need to change my medication. I exclusively pumped with my first and I got so depressed. I have to make a decision soon because my milk is going to come within the next few days. Tomorrow I have a psychiatrist appointment. I know BM would be good for my son but I'm not sure if it will cause my anixety to get bad. I was in a dark place yesterday and even this morning. I was too scared to see my son in the NICU basically and needed to be pushed. Luckily my nurse helped make it over there.
