So pp is right. You don’t know. You’re just making things up.
Yes. The SCHEV data is completely made up. The bottom quarter of the class (athletes, legacies, teachers kids, Z list, TJ, URM, and rural ROVA) is really a 3.6W, not a 4.21W like they publish and it’s an evil conspiracy to keep your kid from applying. /s. Come on. You know better. You think white and Asian unhooked NOVA kids are getting into UVA with more than .20 BELOW the 25% mark, while UVA is routinely rejecting 1500+ SAT / 4.5 unhooked/8-10 AP NoVA kids? Numerically, White or Asian Unhooked NoVa is the top 1/3 of the class, with white and Asian affluent OOS filling in the rest. You should know this too. Do you know kids applying to college? Because no guidance counselor— even at TJ— is telling kids they are safe for UVA. Not with a 4.5, and 10 APs, amd all state music and a 15120 and 3 subject tests above a 700. I do know that. And I have seen amazing kids with these credentials turned down. If you don’t want to believe your kid could get rejected below a 4.0 GPA, don’t believe. But it’s cruel to egg on a kid with almost no chance of getting in. To encourage them to think of this as their dream school and the only place they could be happy. Because there is a 98% chance her dreams are crushed. Do her a favor and help her see that the odd aren’t in her favor, but there is no harm in trying. Leep expectations reasonable. And have a college she can get into and likes lined up.
Your conclusions are irrational, elitist, and racist. You. Just. Don’t. Know. You don’t know who the “bottom quarter” of the class is. There is no way for you to know. You are drawing conclusions based on personal beliefs.
It’s none of the above. And anyone who looks at the SCHEV data and Naviance data will tell you this. The data is all there. You may not like it. But it’s there. And whatever you do— don’t look at it. You’ll be shocked to discover is takes a 4.4 to get into UVA from NoVA.
