I'll be the opposing view- it sounds like you've had some unexpected life challenges. Simplifying life by going to the neighborhood school can be a real lifesaver. If you think you can get three years at Burroughs before making a change, I would seriously consider it. The immediate downside would be not being able to get aftercare- would that negate the simplicity of being close?
OP here. Thanks - this is what is really driving my query. The unexpected financial challenge (job loss) is the real game changer for us. I'm not sure I would be asking this question without that. I realize we may never get another shot at MV or a like-quality public charter school. After considering all of the responses, I'm leaning towards keeping the MV slot, and hoping for the best. I think the financial challenge is just adding to my overall anxiety about the school transition - but you're right, it does make the neighborhood school very attractive. Even if we couldn't get aftercare - it's close enough that we could probably find a college student or two to do pick/up and childcare for an hour or two a day. That would also mean I wouldn't have to drive to work - and could save lots of money on parking and gas.
