[/quote] It is totally different. Area rugs can be rolled up and sent away to be washed. You can sweep and mop underneath them. I've taken up old carpeting in two different homes and what I found underneath was NASTY. Dust and dirt settle through the carpet, the carpet pad degrades and its just a pile of nasty dirt underneath. Vacuums only get the dirt from the very top surface layer. If you ever watch carpet being removed, you'll never want it in your house again. [/quote]
