I’m the 3rd person getting hand me downs and most are still usable, although I’m guessing less around age 5 when they do wear the clothes out a lot more. Most stains come out with Oxiclean.
Can you tell me exactly how you get stains out (new or old) with oxi? I’m 3/4 through my first tub of it and still can’t reliably get food or washable paint stains out.
Get a Rubbermaid tote or large bucket. Fill it with the hottest water your tap can make. Dissolve as much oxyclean in it as will dissolve. Lots of stirring. Like making jello. Submerge clothes and let soak for 24-48hrs. Then wash with double rinse. Dry in sunlight. Use a paint stir stick or broom handle to stir at first - water should be that hot. Then stir every few hours you are awake until you wash.
I'm a different poster. I have soaked socks & under wears in 1 gal hot water & 1 cup oxi clean, it didn't make much of a difference. What is your water to oxi ratio?
I'd like to know too...oxiclean helps on a lot of stuff, but we have a very rough and messy toddler and there are several things I'll end up tossing vs passing down due to stains/discoloration.
