I love living in Mt Rainier but we do a lot of driving. Not saying you won't from Hyattsville, and I adore our little "downtown," but central Brookland and central Hyattsville have more walkable amenities. Central Brookland costs like at least 2x more than Hyattsville, obvs.[/quote]

I mean you’re going to do a decent amount of driving in any of those places.  Grocery stores, Costco, clothing etc.  I like walking to yoga and the post office and the quick bus ride to RI Ave Station.  We’ve made friends with a lot of neighbors so a lot of our social life is walkable.  And love that ivy city and other parts of DC are 10-15 min away and an easy uber if needed. If you commute on the green line then Riverdale Park/Hyattsville, if you need the red line Brookland.  FYI-Parking at College Park Metro is pretty easy right not but they are removing the surface lot in the next 5 years which may make it more crowded.
