I have an appointment at 9. Your appointment can be with your laundry.
Except if they’re neighbors, she may see that OP just went home and nobody has come by.
And you wonder why SAHMs get a bad rep. Is this what you people do all day? Monitor other people’s houses and wring your hands over disappointing someone?
Grow up. This is definitely not what SAHMs do, so you can back up your SAHM hate right now. I was a WOHM for decades and had a coworker who was very similar to the neighbor in this scenario. She would NOT leave me alone - if she wasn't hovering over my workspace, she was asking me to lunch and if I have prior plans, she would demand to know with whom. Needy, needy, needy. Doesn't matter what your work status is, some people just can't stand to be alone with their thoughts.
I get it, I was more referring to the response of “she’ll see you didn’t leave your house.” Honestly asking, do people sit in their bay window seat and stare at your neighbors? I have no idea what my neighbors are up to, even on the weekends.
I SAH and am friends with my neighbor. There’s one exit off our street so I always drive by her house. Yes it’s noticeable whether she’s home or not because she’s the only one with a red SUV and parking is all on the street. No, I’m not sitting by my window all day, but if you tell me you need to be somewhere so you need to say goodbye, and then you go into your house and your car remains in the street... Yeah, I might wonder. Once or twice, fine, but if it kept happening, I’ll just assume you don’t want to be friends. And I’d be completely fine if someone said they just needed to go or had things to do or wanted to be alone or what have you. No need to lie!
