No comments about drinking or partying please. Serious question. Our DD stumbled upon Tulane onine, has done research and is now begging us to take her to visit. Have never considered a southern school for her before. Would appreciate any first hand feedback on pros/cons.
I think the first question to ask is how resourceful your kid could be in a hurricane evacuation. If your kid wouldn't be good and aggressive about getting transportation out, nothing else anyone here could say about Tulane or the University of Miami matters.
This comment is just bizarre.
Katrina nearly destroyed the Tulane campus in 2005. New Orleans is a great city, and Tulane sounds like a great school, but kids who go there need to be able to handle an evacuation. If they're really anxious, shy, rebellious or disorganized, they'd be better off in places that don't get evacuated every few years. I know that any place can have a disaster, but the odds that Tulane will be evacuated in a given year are comparable to the odds that a good student will get into Harvard.
