It’s not all one nor is it all the other.[/quote] I think it's more likely that the teacher doesn't really understand giftedness and doesn't understand how to rate children showing some of the less desirable characteristics associated with gifted children. My bright, motivated, non-gifted child who is at best one year above grade level was given a very high GBRS, whereas my highly gifted child who is also multiple years above grade level in each subject was given a fairly lukewarm GBRS. I doubt that my gifted child wasn't "showing" giftedness in the classroom, considering that last year's teacher, the math teacher, and the reading specialist have been clear that they think very highly of this child. GBRS is a very biased, broken system. [/quote]
