^^^^If this is it, op you need to expose your kid to the broader world. He should know that some men dress like women. And most men have a penis. If it wa truly just a guy lounging there, it shouldn’t be all that distressing.
This is OP. You cannot be serious. An 11 y/o kid does not need to see a woman with a huge dick. That's not the same thing as knowing that there are people who are different in the world. He doesn't need to see anyone naked right now. He doesn't need sexual images in his world right now. He certainly does not need that cognitive dissonance of a woman with a penis right now.
I never said he NEEDED to see anything. But if he was aware of those two simple facts of life - some men wear dresses and most men have a penis then I think it would be much easier to explain. And far less shocking overall. Does your son know tran men and women even exist? Or has ever been around a cultural event or city where they may be? And, yes, I’m absolutely serious.
This isn't about transexuals. This is about graphic sexualized images that he does not understand and doesn't need to know about right now. He didn't see a man in a dress. He saw a big erect penis on a person with boobs dressed like a woman. If he saw a transexual person on the street, I'd have no problem explaining that to him. This is a whole other level of information he does not need to have right now.
So I’m going to take that as a no, he doesn’t know about trans people or has ever seen one. Sorry it’s distressing to you both. You are going to have to talk to him if he’s as upset as you think. It’s possible he’s just embarrassed though because you were there. Try to keep it as a matter of fact as possible to dial down his emotions. Kids take the parents lead for emotional reactions sometimes. Just focus on some guys like to wear dresses. Some men feel they want to physically be a woman and use hormones to start the transition. Don’t talk about the erection unless he brings it up.
