This story IS noteworthy.  So is the Wheaton one. The local TV news stations are covering this story.  The local papers that have endorsed the PL have not.  The PL will be a main artery connecting gang ridden high crime areas to a low crime non gang infested one.  This was a Purple Line worker who fortunately escaped with his life.  Procedures were changed.  Newsworthy for many reasons and also forshadowing what to expect in new Bethesda.  I am very concerned with attempts to bury this story.  It does not fit the PL narrative that the politicians want people to believe.[/quote]

I've lived in Silver Spring, now Bethesda, and support the Purple Line, because you know what? The area is growing whether we like it or not and more transportation is just necessary. It won't lighten congestion on the roads because there will be [u]that many more people [/u] on the Line AND on the road. So it's essential to avoid clogging the roads.

MS-13 has been entrenched in the area for many years now, and WaPo and other news outlets in our area have done long features on it. You are delusional if you think that we're not taking this gang seriously or reporting on it. It will have no effect on transportation plans, however, because we need those plans more than anything else. And to think that this gang will somehow develop more with added transport is insane. Gangs are smothered by shutting off their financial sources, and since this gang is international, it will take some time.
