I don't know who Jewel is, so I'll go with NO.
What.
Dearest "What" ... you may be feeling it too ... the sudden realization that you are, as of this moment, officially OLD. :) Damn.
I mean...I also know who Stevie Nicks and Cyndi Lauper are...that doesn't mean I was alive when they were popular. Music from those artists is like a cultural touchstone, I'd expect most people know who they are.
I’m not sure Jewel is on the same level as Stevie Nicks and Cyndi Lauper. I was in college when she had her biggest hits and am only familiar with her best selling album, but would recover that there are several more out there that I’m not familiar with.
Every bit as good, if not better. Her voice is much better, she's very versatile, and her songwriting is probably some of the best stuff out there, especially her B-sides. Haunted, written from the perspective of a stalker, is a great example, especially in it's pure acoustic form. 0304 was an experiment for her musically, but the lyrics are pure Jewel gold.
I didn’t say she wasn’t as good, but she never reached the same level of popularity of Nicks or Lauper.
