My 6th grader always tell me he has none as well. He got straight As on his report card. So-he must not be lying. I love that he has none. There was too much in elementary school.
+100 If the grades are good they obviously aren't getting 'incompletes' on assignments. I still ask 'do you have any homework' daily, but take my son's answer as truth since he just brought home straight As. I have a 4th grader and 6th grader (both boys) and their elementary school assigned quite a bit and I never interfered. They developed really good habits about getting it done early, in class if offered and before sports practices. Truthfully, I barely know what they are doing in school but they are GT/straight A. I feel the elementary school did a great job at developing good work/study habits early on.
