Omg then just don’t go. Jesus Christ. Why do you care what some else does? There are tons of things that people do differently especially if they are from different cultures. For some people the norm is to have 15 people at a baby or bridal while others might have 50-100. Some cultures have a shower for every baby while others only think it’s acceptable to have a shower for the first baby. Get over it.
Money grabbing is tacky in any culture and gender reveal parties are not part of ANYONE'S culture because they're a made up trend that have popped up in the last few years. I would care if I felt obligated to go, expecting to buy a gift and pretend to be excited, then ALSO had to pull out my wallet once I got there. Tacky, tacky, tacky.
Although you sound worldly and well traveled and all  , in OTHER countries this is acceptable. Sometimes, people from OTHER countries emigrate to the U.S. and bring their cultures with them and continue to celebrate as they do in their own countries. My sister in law is from a country where the brides do a "dollar dance" at their wedding and then the bride walks around during the reception and people pin money to her wedding dress! My brother in law is from a country where there is a shower for EVERY child/pregnancy and guests are expected to bring gifts and (gasp!) money, too! I would wager they are far more educated than you (SIL is a doctor from an ivy league school) and BIL is a very highly paid cyber security engineer. So whether these people bring their traditions to the U.S. or some random Americans decide to incorporate some or all of these practices, what difference does it make to you in your little insular, backwoods, monolithic, dimly lit universe?? Let it go.
