There’s no good reason for them not to have dinner at 5 or 6 so the toddler can go to bed at a reasonable hour and so OP and the family aren’t driving late at night. If we got in the car after dinner my kid would fall right to sleep.  I don't know why you can't try putting him down at Grandma's and see what happens, play it by ear.  Maybe he'll be fine and you can enjoy Thanksgiving with everyone else, or maybe he'll have a meltdown and you leave.  Why make everyone else change their plan? [/quote]
