I agree with all your random thoughts! especially about the chaos. I was always confused about where they were. I guess because you never see Negan's compound fully (like an architect's drawing or from the sky) I was forgetting where each group was so kept getting confused. I didn't really get the reason for this episode - except for there to be a war (and more war and more war and more war). not really sure it would have mattered if I missed it.
I think this episode was setting up the moral/ethical conflict down the road about what to do with the Saviors after they destroy Negan. It's easy to say in the abstract that they should all be killed, but what about when that Savior is also just a dad trying to protect his baby (much like Rick and others have protected Judith)? What about when the Savior is someone who used to be on your side, and you don't know what brought him to be part of the Saviors? What about when the Savior is someone who was brought there against his will and forced to serve them to protect his family? On the flip side, it's also easy to say they should show mercy to anyone who's willing to lay down their weapon and surrender, but what happens when the person is faking to get an opportunity to kill you? Can you trust the guy who has laid down his weapon, but is still trying to verbally provoke you? What about the guy who was on your side when you last saw him, but was unwilling to consider that you might not need to be an enemy now? There's going to be a lot of internal reckoning within the group when the battle is done.
