Just couldn't get into it. I had it on and was reading something else. Everytime I looked up it was shooting or the King preaching. I'm not feeling it this season.

I think this episode was setting up the moral/ethical conflict down the road about what to do with the Saviors after they destroy Negan. It's easy to say in the abstract that they should all be killed, but what about when that Savior is also just a dad trying to protect his baby (much like Rick and others have protected Judith)? What about when the Savior is someone who used to be on your side, and you don't know what brought him to be part of the Saviors? What about when the Savior is someone who was brought there against his will and forced to serve them to protect his family? On the flip side, it's also easy to say they should show mercy to anyone who's willing to lay down their weapon and surrender, but what happens when the person is faking to get an opportunity to kill you? Can you trust the guy who has laid down his weapon, but is still trying to verbally provoke you? What about the guy who was on your side when you last saw him, but was unwilling to consider that you might not need to be an enemy now? There's going to be a lot of internal reckoning within the group when the battle is done.

Season 8, Episode 2 random thoughts:

1) Chaotic and very random and a little hard to follow with all of the A-Team-style shootouts.

2) The heck is up with the King talking in that weird Yoda/Shakespeare mashup manner?

3) Morales! Had to look him up. From way back in Season 1, episode 5 when the original group parted ways. The actor lost a bunch of weight. Which, you know, the apocalypse so I guess that stands to reason.

Andrew Lincoln (Rick) is truly amazing at changing his accent for the show.
His voice is so deep, dry & grizzled as Rick, but so proper, elegant & sophisticated sounding in his true British accent. That's true talent right there.

Oh, I forgot to mention this fun fact... the actor who plays Nick actually played Voldemort in The Half Blood Prince.

I always knew there was something sneaky about that kid.

I think Negan will be around for the full season, but if they follow the comic at all, the whole season will not just be a series of battles with the Saviors.

Negan is probably posturing to intimidate Gabriel, just like he did to Rick before they heard the explosion and Rick's group opened fire. Negan rules half by brute force, and half by intimidating bravado.

Maggie's accent is a bit of a hmmmm. She's American. I think one of her parents is British, but she grew up in the US and moved to England as a teen.

She's a dual U.S.-U.K. citizen, her mother is Scottish.
