Kids (and adults) with autism don't pick up/notice the subtle social cues through which everyone else learns social skills intuitively, through their peers. So they need an adult to teach them the basics -- explicitly -- and then facilitate peer interactions, pointing out expected and unexpected behavior.[/quote]
