OP, I went to public school, my husband went to public school, my kids go to public school, both of my sisters-in-law went to public school, all of my friends that I have now went to public school, their kids go to public school... In the America I live in, going to public school is the norm. In fact, it's not "going to public school," it's just plain "going to school".[/quote]

+1  Only about 10% of American children attend private schools.  Sure, consider it if you find the public school is not meeting your needs but public schools work fine for most families.  FWIW, my mom attended Catholic schools for her whole education and absolutely would not send us to Catholic schools (although we were raised Catholic).  DH attended a private Christian school for K-8  followed by public high school but also felt public would be best for our kids. [/quote]
