Welcome to America.
Many public schools are much, much better than many Catholic schools. I went to Catholic schools and my kids' public schools are much better.
Never listen to anyone who claims that one type of school system is better than another. You need to compare school to school, not system to system.
The class size in my dd school for 3rd grade is 22.Is that average in public schools?

Why is your DH super upset? Public schools work for a lot of children, most, really.
Dh is upset because I didn't want to spend $26,000 for private school.I told him to wait and see how dd first year in public school goes, before we spend crazy amount of our limited cash. In a new country.

Op,
If money is not a issue for you, please send your Dd to private school.
Gangs of third-graders?
OP, I went to public school, my husband went to public school, my kids go to public school, both of my sisters-in-law went to public school, all of my friends that I have now went to public school, their kids go to public school... In the America I live in, going to public school is the norm. In fact, it's not "going to public school," it's just plain "going to school".

He gets a lot of free enrichment because the school has extra money to take care of the high needs population. He does get bored at times, but even the best schools have a pretty easy curriculum, in elementary I mean.
Just calm down and start at your local school. If it doesn't work out, start looking into options.
Yes the classes are too large, the program too easy, and too much emphasis on discipline. But it's ok.
Thank you.I feel much better and I will send dd to after school activities to keep her busy and learn a musical instrument. She likes piano and dancing.
