Thank you all for the suggestions!!! I really appreciate it. I wish she would consider wax. I tried to entice her to an appointment at the Red Door Spa by offering a mani/pedi and facial too- no luck. I'll get the strips and nair first and let DD see which she'd like to try. If those don't suit her I'll try other suggestions. The amount of work that goes into self-care when you're starting puberty is SO much more than when you're six or seven. Hair removal, deodorant and the period is probably only a year or two away (and that's a whole other PITA).
Rats that was a good place to consider so it is too bad she doesn't want to do it. And you're right that it is a lot more work in the tween/teen years. Just wait til she discovers make-up and highlights. Yikes! It seemed like our boys were more work when they were little (all that charging around at a million miles an hour) but got easier when they were older but it was the reverse for the girls. How I long for the tea party days! Oh, and about Red Door, I'm available to go if your offer still stands!
