Spot on.  Boho prep's fashion moment continued into the early '80s in parts of New England and northern CA.   Ali McGraw remains a goddess to some of us.

And, yes, Virginia, there are still crunchy preps -- not quite boho - at many of the schools mentioned here -- e.g., Midd, Brown, Wes.  Indeed, they're on the rise -- think of all the kids you know who wear Birks and are into resistance and sustainability.  True boho preps are rarer, but do exist -- see e.g., Reed, Sarah Lawrence, and Bennington.  And, of course, you'll always find a few preps of every variety at Harvard and Yale.   People, despite what they're trying to sell you at Vineyard Vines, there's  a wide, wide world of preppiness out there.   [/quote]

I posted earlier but I echo your comments. Bohemian prep is still alive at several NE boarding schools. In fact it never went away.[/quote]
