You have a source?  1993 was after the trauma center opened at UMd, and IIRC the murder rate fell when it opened, because what had been homicides became aggravated assaults instead.  I am thinking it was higher back in the early 1980s - but I can't seem to find data from that far back.[/quote]

While that article does say that 1992 and 1993 set records, it does not in fact say what the homicide rate was in earlier years, which is what I was looking for. I was thinking more of a year by year table.  [/quote]
