Almost any TJ kids should be fine for SLACs like Trinity,Wesleyan, Reed, Davidson, Bowdoin, Elon, etc. Schools a lot of private school kids going to who aren't the top 10 kids in the class. Have to think past the top 3 box.
Haha. You have not seen TJ naviance. Very few going to those schools. Like 1 each over several years
+1. I looked at Davidson last week for my kid. In the last 3 years, they have admitted 1/1, 1/2 and 1/6 (!!!). None admitted have attended. No GPAs or SATs given because the number who applied are too small. I was shocked at the year they took 1 out of 6. I'm guessing yield protection? At any rate, don't count on Davidson-- it looks like they have given up on TJ kids. I just pulled Naviance back up. TJ kids are not applying to SLACs. Too few to get GPAs or SATs. And those that do are not being accepted. Here are some other SLAC numbers for 2014-2016: Bowdoin takes about 1/2 of kids, with 2 enrolling in the last 3 years. Average GPA of applicants: 4.43 (which is mathematically impossible with 10 unweighted classes). Trinity had 2 apply, 1 accepted, none enroll-- again too few to get a GPA. Vassar has had 7 kids apply in the last 3 years-- 0 !!! Accepted. Sarah Lawrence: 1 applied in 2014, not accepted Pomona: 14 applicants (average applicant GPA 4.25), 3 admitted Middlebery: 9 applicants, 3 accepted Elon is 5/5-- but with close to a 60% acceptance rate overall (I grew up near there, and have never considered Elon selective) Reed did decently: 5 applied, 4 accepted, 1 enrolled (again-- too small for a GPA)-- but it has a 49%!overall acceptance rate, so not sure it is selective So no-- TJ kids are not getting into SLACs.
