Just watch it to the end. It's not a big time commitment and ultimately, I could see schools using parts of this to spur dialogue in appropriate settings.

Just finished watching it last night. The last episode broke my heart, I cried. I loved the extra interviews afterwards.

I'm only on the 4th episode, but I agree. It just doesn't sound plausible yet, though maybe it will make more sense as I watch the other episodes.

Also - I had completely thought Alex was gay, and now it turns out he's not? I also find it completely implausible that he would be accepted by the jock guys. He's the artsy, slender, sensitive type that they would typically shun.

There's a reason he's accepted (to keep him quiet). Also, Alex and Justin Foley are both gay in real life and are DATING!

I also thought Alex was gay in the show until they had him date Jessica.

+1
I know he's gay IRL, but if he's supposed to be straight on the show, you'd think they would have found a less obviously gay guy to play him. It just doesn't add up at all when I see him with Jessica.

I think they wanted the surprise value of this plot development, just as it was a surprise for Hannah. There's another surprise along these lines coming down the road.

The two guys make a cute couple!

So freaking tired of this word. 'Triggering' of what exactly?

Not PP and pretty bleeding heart, but I also don't understand the idea of being triggered, safe spaces, etc. Facing difficult things from your past is how you work through them, not something to avoid at all costs. Same goes for people whose opinions differ from your own.

Do you have PTSD? Based on your post, I'm guessing the answer is no.

Agree with you about the importance of hearing/being exposed to different ipinions, though.

Working through things doesn't mean you necessarily want them in your face at all times. Likewise, a trigger warning is not saying that something shouldn't be viewed or discussed, just a warning to people that there is sensitive material in it. It's hardly a new concept--for years episodes have added messages at the beginning if they're tackling a topic that "might not be suitable for all viewers." So PP finds it a tough show to watch--how does her saying that impinge on you at all?

It just made me terrified for my kids to grow up - the issues kids deal with in high school. Ugh.

Every time someone says the character Hannah seemed 'well-adjusted' I translate it to "skinny white conventionally attractive suburban middle class girl".
