OP, we are looking into a similar trip and a friend of mine who I trust completely recommended Paradisus La Esmerelda on the Riviera Maya. She is going for the third time this summer with their 3 kids (ages are 9,7 and 5) and she said she usually pays $3000-$3500 for a week. melia.com is the hotel company website, but I know the first time my friend went she booked it through Costco vacations.
