I live in Nauck. I was not aware of the "double boundary" deal with Hoffman-Boston. The PDF that was linked defines Nauck students as: All students who live in the Nauck community (those children residing in the Nauck Civic Association neighborhood who also live within the Hoffman-Boston attendance area). The Hoffman-Boston attendance zone on the current maps doesn't include Nauck, so I'm confused. Not doubting PP. In fact, it would be interesting to know if we could send our children to Claremont. I'm not aware of any preference for Nauck neighborhood residents in the Montessori lottery. None was stated when we applied, but we did wind up with a high waitlist number, so I guess it's possible.
Did you do pre k Montessori at Drew? The preference works like this - as I understand it. You get guaranteed admission to Montessori in k, if you do pre k Montessori at Drew. So, if that is your zoned pre-k, you would have much higher likelihood of getting into Montessori at Drew, putting those living nearby at an advantage. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
PP here. As I understand it, the Drew Montessori is a county-wide program. The only lottery preference that I know of is based on income, not address. Once in the Drew Montessori, you're guaranteed admission to APS Montessori (or Drew Montessori?) going forward into elementary. You are also preferred for Drew elementary (not pre-K) Montessori if you live in Nauck and have prior Montessori experience. I think the neighborhood pre-K thing is VPI, which is different and I don't know anything about that program. I may not know much about the Montessori program either, who knows. But my child is currently in the Drew Montessori pre-K program and the above is what I remember being told when we applied for the lottery.
I am confused. There is Montessori pre k at most of the elementary schools in APS. Where you live determines which school you would apply for Montessori pre k. If you are zoned for Montessori pre k at drew and you are admitted, you are guaranteed a spot in Montessori K at Drew. So, it's a county wide program with preference for children zoned pre k at Drew. Correct? Who's on first?
