If you are zoned for Drew, you do currently get automatic admission to Claremont if you are interested in that.
This is incorrect. Drew is not part of the automatic Claremont cluster admission- https://www.apsva.us/wp-content/uploads/legacy_assets/www/26c4621ab8-25-2.2-enrollment-transfers.pdf " the Cluster (Abingdon/Hoffman-Boston /Oakridge) for Claremont are guaranteed admission to that school." If you are in the Drew boundary you have almost no chance of getting into Claremont. Claremont is really overcrowded. It fills with students from the cluster and siblings.
This does not take into account the map. They have basically drawn lines that make Claremont a neighborhood school. If you just signed up with no issue, it is because they have space this year.
Or because the Staff thought you were submitting an application for the lottery. You would have no issue doing that. It is not the same as being admitted.
No, I was admitted. I dropped off all registration paperwork. I have emails from the registrar at Claremont and from Gladis Bourdouane , who is in charge of School and Community relations, I believe for the county. Her exact email to me says "for addresses such as this one, where they live in Nauck, they also belong to the Hoffman-Boston ES zone and have preference admission to Claremont" And I am not an idiot I know the difference between the transfer app. I dropped the transfer/lottery app off first and then was sent an email which says "Since you live in the Claremont Cluster you child qualifies for priority admission" You are eligible to register now" Then I dropped off the entire registration packet which was accepted. I know no one wants to believe me here but I researched this when we moved into Nauck in 2014 and then again this year since my son is entering K. I have multiple emails telling me that me neighborhood in Nauck is part of the Hoffman Boston ES zone which gets preference into Claremont. I have been to multiple Drew planning meetings talking about the impact of being also zoned for Hoffman Boston has on the population at Drew and how a large part of Nauck goes to Claremont. I am not sure why you would think that both the Claremont registar and Ms. Bourdouane would be lying to me or "confused." As you can see from the link the PP so kindly provided it notes that Hoffman-Boston is part of the cluster that is guaranteed admission to Claremont. If you look below that in the Drew section it notes that those living in nauck civic association also live in the Hoffman-boston area and can chose to go to either Drew of Hoffman-Boston. We are zoned for both schools. Because we are zoned for Hoffman-boston as well as Drew we can get into Claremont. Again, all of my neighbors go to Claremont. They didn't have to apply through the lottery they just registered.
